Sven made an ice candle at school.

You need a plastic PET bottle, small ones are the best, but any size is okay. Cut the bottle in half. Add some flowers, and leaves, maybe some glitter. Water and a candle. Freeze it! The next day you can let them defrost a little, you may pour warm water on the outside of the bottle to loosen it up. Sometimes you can get the bottle off without cutting it, but usually you need to cut the bottle off the ice candle. Place the candle on a tray, or large plate, to catch water and things as it melts. Light the tea candle and enjoy the effect of the light through the ice. It's more effective at night. ( they make great christmas decorations too)

Sven had a science week at school and he also made his own lavalamp! Exiting! We have the instructions of this experiment too if you are interested!

TIME

It is now wintertime in the Netherlands and since a few week its summertime in South Australia. Example; If it is 9:30 AM in South Australia it is 1:00 AM in the Netherlands. It is 9 and a half hour later in South Australia. You can also have a look at the clocks on the left of this blog. ( make sure you look at te right clock because Bacchus Marsh is in Victoria and they are in a different time zone as Nairne in South Australia)

Sven heeft een ijs lichtje gemaakt op school.

Hiervoor heb je nodig: een plastic fles, liefst een kleintje maar ieder formaat kan. En bloemen en blaadjes en waxinelichtjes. Knip de fles doormidden doe er de bloemen bloemblaadjes etc in, doe er water in en het waxinelichtje.  Zet het een dag in de vriezer. Als je het wilt gebruiken moet je de buitenkant een beetje laten ontdooien met warm water. Verwijder de fles. Soms moet je deze eraf knippen. Zet het ijslichtje op een bord om het smeltende water enzo op te vangen en steek het lichtje aan. Het mooiste effect krijg je als het al donker is.

Op de foto zit het ijslichtje nog in de fles ik zal later nog een foto maken als we het lichtje hebben aangestoken.

Sven had een "wetenschaps week" op school en heeft ook een lavalamp gemaakt. Het " recept" hiervoor hebben we ook dus als je interesse hebt ?!

TIJD

Het is nu wintertijd in Nederland en al sinds een paar weken zomertijd in Zuid Australie. Als het nu in Zuid Australie 9:30 s'ochtends is is het in Nederland 1:00 in de morgen. Het is in Zuid Australie dus 9,5 uur later. (Dank je Lidia) Je kan natuurlijk ook op de klokken aan de linkerkant van deze blog kijken. ( let op Bacchus Marsh is in Victoria en dat maakt nog een half uur verschil met Nairne in Zuid Australie)

BELASTINGEN

Ondertussen moeten hier ook de belastingpapieren ingevuld. Op naar het belastingkantoor om wat formulieren want een bevolkingsregister is er niet, ze weten niet waar je woont, dus moet je er zelf om. Maar niet op het belastingkantoor , nee, daar verwijzen ze je door naar het postkantoor. Logisch! Bij het postkantoor moeten ze lachen:" Dat doen we al 8 jaar niet meer". Nee we moeten naar de newsagency. Daar zijn de formulieren dus te vinden! Als het goed is en we hebben 1X belastingpapieren ingevuld krijgen we ze volgend jaar wel toegestuurd. Dan weten ze ons te vinden?!
